The 112th Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival will take place from February 5-9, 2025, with the theme Let Your Light Shine! Hosted by the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and proudly sponsored by Yampa Valley Bank, this event is a cherished celebration of winter, community, and athleticism.
What began in 1914 as a way to combat the challenges of a snowbound winter has evolved into a vibrant homage to Steamboat’s Western traditions and its reputation as Ski Town, USA. The carnival continues to honor our love for snow, sports, and the mountain lifestyle that defines this community.
Highlights You Won’t Want to Miss
Family Fun and Street Events
The festivities kick off on Tuesday at Howelsen Hill, with activities and family-friendly events running through Sunday. The ever-popular Street Events on Saturday and Sunday transform Lincoln Avenue into a snowy stage for a unique spectacle: kids on skis and snowboards being pulled by horses down the street! It’s a heartwarming and entertaining display of community spirit and Steamboat’s heritage.
Saturday Night Extravaganza
The pinnacle of the carnival takes place Saturday night at Howelsen Hill with the Night Extravaganza. Local athletes dazzle the crowd with jaw-dropping stunts, lit by flares and LED lights, as they ski and jump down the slopes. The famed Lighted Man will make his annual appearance, skiing down the hill in a pyrotechnic suit that shoots fireworks. To top it off, daring jumpers will soar through a fiery hoop, culminating in a breathtaking fireworks show that lights up the night sky.
